VAL ST. Robert Griffin III Ravens Jersey . COME, Que. -- Alex Bilodeau is afraid of where all this momentum could be taking him. Bilodeau won his third straight World Cup moguls event Sunday, edging out teammate and rival Mikael Kingsbury. A showdown at next months Winter Games between Bilodeau, the reigning Olympic champion, and Kingsbury, the defending world champion, has the Rosemere, Que., native worried about when the intensity peaks in Sochi, Russia. "I need to admit Im a bit afraid of where were heading towards," said Bilodeau. "Every race were pushing the limit, were pushing and pushing. ... "If we continue to push before the Olympics its going to be a nice show because I dont know where its going." Canada finished Sundays competition with four medals after Chloe Dufour-Lapointe and her sister Justine took first and second place, respectively, in the womens event. Bilodeau won with a score of 26.49, while Kingsbury, from Deux-Montagnes, Que., followed at 25.66. Bradley Wilson of the United States was third. Bilodeau, now four years removed from being the first Canadian to win gold on home soil, said he doesnt take the pairs success for granted with the Olympics so close. "If we continue to push each other theres a myriad of scenarios that could come down. We could both do big mistakes also and come to the back of the field but hopefully it wont come to that point," he said. "But were two pretty constant skiers and we should make it down with no mistakes, and Mikael is a very consistent skier without doing any mistakes here or there, so I need to be on top of my game." Chloe Dufour-Lapointe meanwhile maintained shes the picture of calm after the Montreal natives latest win. She took gold with a score of 23.79, while Justine Dufour-Lapointe followed at 22.51 ahead of Japans Junko Hoshino. Chloe Dufour-Lapointe is heading to her second Olympics after finishing ninth in 2010. With nothing to compete for between now and the Winter Games, she said she wont be losing sleep during the wait. "Im not nervous at all," she said. "Yeah, for sure, its the Olympics, its going to be big, but Im expecting this for my second time on the Olympics team. Every single event that I did this year I was working on the process and to be able to go to Sochi and get the best that I can do." Orlando Brown Jr. Jersey . Bryce Harper? He also came into Wednesday without a long ball and hadnt driven in a run. He was hitting .160, had nearly three times as many strikeouts as hits and was dropped to seventh in the batting order. Willie Snead IV Ravens Jersey . Josh Mazzola drove in five runs to lead the Goldeyes (20-12) past the Capitales 11-5 Friday night at Le Stade Municipal in Quebec City.If strength at the goaltending position is one of the cornerstones of a successful NHL franchise, Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin finds himself in a great place heading into the 2014-15 season. When starting goaltender Carey Price was injured during last seasons playoffs, it was rookie Dustin Tokarski who took over between the pipes, instead of season-long backup Peter Budaj. Heading into the new campaign with three NHL caliber goaltenders, Bergevin is prepared to let his backup situation play itself out. "Peter Budaj is a proven backup goalie in the NHL and a good one," Bergevin told TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie. "Dustin Tokarski came in the playoffs last year, the sixth game against the Rangers and was extremely good, but again youre going against a guy with the experience and is a really good backup goalie. So thats why you have training camp and well see what happens. We have depth in that position now." So much depth in fact that since either would have to clear waivers to be sent down to the minors, dealing one of them or even beginning the year with both backups on the roster are both in the realm of possibility. "If we feel one guy is really ahead of the other guy, we will make a decision. Maybe a trade might be a possibility, but at the end of the day, also starting with three goalies might be a possibility. I leave it open, but again, Im looking forward to seeing how it plays out during training camp." As for the starter, Bergevin says Price is ready to retake his place between the pipes for the Canadiens. "Hes 100 per cent. Hes ready to go. I mean from Day 1 in camp, hell be ready to go." Another thing youll see Day 1 in camp, after spending the first two years of his NHL career at left wing, the Canadiens are planning to try Alex Galchenyuk at a different forward position. "We will start him in training camp at centre. We want to see where hes at. We know sometimes its harder for a young player to player centre in the NHL, especially down low. But with two years under his belt, we want to evaluate where hes at in the centre position and then well make a decision." That wont be the teams only new look when they open camp; two of the teams long-time key players in Brian Gionta and Josh Gorges have moved on to the Buffalo Sabres. While acknowledging their contributions, Bergevin feels there is more than enough leadership and experience in the players that remain with the squad. "Internally, we felt that it was time for a change as far as lleadership was concerned. Mark Andrews Jersey. We felt that our young kids were coming along. Gio was a great leader on this team, did a lot for our hockey team, but obviously theres some hard decisions that at times need to be made and that was one of them, along with Josh Gorges. We feel with the young defenceman coming through the system, they are ready to take the next step. So you have to move forward and sometimes these decisions are not popular, but we feel theyre the best for our hockey club moving forward."    With team captain Gionta out of the picture, the Canadiens have decided to go with four alternate captains instead of naming one player as a direct replacement. "Those decisions sometimes are not popular. To me, I dont look at it as not having a captain, but as four guys that can do the job. I dont think you need to have the C to be a leader."  "I think our young guys are ready to take that challenge to take the leadership role more." One of those four men that will wear an A, defenceman P.K. Subban, was signed to a lucrative eight-year, $72 million contract in the offseason. Bergevin is not worried about how his superstar will handle the added spotlight. "I think P.K. welcomes the pressure. I think hes changed a lot and matured a lot since Ive been here. Giving him the A, to me, was an honour and well see where he takes it. Time will tell, but we feel P.K. is ready to take the next step." On the subject of his teams next step, Bergevin is not going to accelerate anything, instead the Canadiens general manager is sticking to his plan of building a long-term winner. "We have to draft players and develop them the right way and we brought people into our organization to help that process. Again, you cant speed the process, you got to help these kids and thats the best way for me to build a team thats going to be good enough, not for just one year or two years, but a long period of time." As for this season in particular, the plan is to once again find a place in the post-season tournament. "Our first step is to make the playoffs. Its a tough league; there are a lot of hockey teams that dont make the playoffs that are still good hockey teams. Were back at the bottom of the hill with all the teams that might have, in my opinion, gotten better this year in our conference. Washingtons better, Tampas better, Toronto will be better, a lot of teams will be better and will be a battle."  The Canadiens open the season against the Maple Leafs in Toronto on October 8. Lacazette, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, has also been ruled out of the game against PSG.The result suited both teams as Monaco, which has conceded just one goal in its last 13 matches in all competitions, drew level on points with fourth-placed Saint-Etienne, nine points behind the leaders. This is the minimum result we wanted, to leave Monaco nine points behind us, Lyon coach Hubert Fournier said. We had a good first half, without exposing ourselves to their counterattacks. The second half was more difficult, it was a test of our mental solidity. And we did not flinch. Without Alex, everybody did something extra, against the best defensive team in Europe. Both teams made a cautious start to an entertaining first half in which Lyon monopolized possession. In the absence of Lacazette, Nabil Fekir shared the attacking duties with Yassine Benzia — with the two youngsters creating a couple of good chances.Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic put on another flawless performance, coming out on top of a duel with Fekir in the 15th minute with a superb save before brilliantly pushing away a powerful 30-meter free kick from Corentin TTolisso on the half-hour mark. Playmaker Yoann Gourcuff set him up with a through ball but the forward could only send his shot wide.In rainy conditions, midfielder Julien Feret scored the winning goal as Caen beat lacklustre Saint-Etienne 1-0 to secure a third straight win and move further away from the relegation zone.Feret struck for the Normandy side in the 41st minute, netting his fifth league goal of the season after Nicolas Seube won the ball off Saint-Etienne midfielder Landry NGuemo and played him through.Feret almost set up another goal on the hour mark, feeding striker Herve Bazile but his back heel went just wide.Saint-Etienne, which has failed to score in three consecutive league games, remained seven points behind third-placed PSG.In Sundays other match, Bordeaux drew 1-1 at home to Guingamp.Winger Claudio Beauvue enhanced his growing reputation with his fifth goal in four games — and 11th league goal of the season — to put mid-table Guingamp ahead in the 28th minute.Defender Maxime Poundje levelled early in the second half for Bordeaux, which had midfielder Jaroslav Plasil sent off in the 78th.Bordeaux is in seventh place, while Guingamp is 11th. LAS VEGAS -- New Mexico won the Mountain West Conference tournament the last two seasons, and the Lobos werent prepared to let the title go. New York Yankees Jerseys . Trailing by one with a little more than a minute left, Cameron Bairstow scored five of the Lobos last eight points to help 20th-ranked New Mexico win its third consecutive tournament title, with a 64-58 victory over No. 8 San Diego State in Saturdays championship game. Bairstow finished with 17 points, and the victory gives the Lobos the automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. The 6-foot-9 senior forward was named tournament MVP after averaging 20.3 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game. "In the regular season San Diego State was the best team," Bairstow said. "I think in this tournament, we were the best team. (The MVP trophy) could have gone to a number of players, the guys sitting next to me. It wasnt about proving a point. You just got to understand its all about team success. Thats what it is. All the accolades that come off that are a bonus. At the end of the day its all based on team success." The No. 2 seed in the Mountain West tournament is now 6-0 all-time when playing the No. 1 seed. "I got terrific kids, a terrific team thats believed in me, taking over a team that won back to back regular season and tournament championships," said first-year New Mexico coach Craig Neal. "This is our third one. Its very special to me." It didnt come easy against the conferences No. 1 defence, as New Mexico (27-6) had its five-point halftime lead disappear when the Aztecs opened the second half on an 8-0 run, to take a 30-27 lead. Trailing 56-49 with 2:34 left in the game, the Aztecs went on an 8-0 run to go up one with 1:21 remaining. The run was culminated when Winston Shepard stole an inbounds pass, dished to Dwayne Polee II for a slam dunk. Polee was fouled and converted the three-point play. With momentum seemingly shifted, Bairstow took over, driving on Josh Adams for a lay-in while drawing the foul. Bairstow converted the three-point play to give the Lobos the lead again. Polees layup attempt at the other end didnt fall, Bairstow rebounded with 51 seconds left and Kendall Williams made a 3-pointer 30 seconds later to seal the win. Williams added 16 points for the Lobos and moved up to No. 5 all-time on New Mexicos career scoring list with 1,794 points, while Greenwood had 12. "I think the timing of it was more fortunate for us this time," Williams said. "Last game they timed it just right and we didnt have an answer for it. This time they punched us in the mouth to start (the second half), and we were able to respond throughout the half. That was the big difference." After shooting 34.8 per cent (8 of 23) from the field in the first half, the Lobos were 10 of 21 from the floor in the second half, including 4 of 9 from long-range. And despite having one of the more formidable frontcourts in the nation, led by Bairstow, San Diego State outscored the Lobos in the paint, 24-18. The Aztecs also outscored New Mexico off turnovers, 21-8, and with bench points, 16-4. In a game that featured 10 ties and 12 lead changes, New Mexicos seven point advantage at the 2:34 mark was the largest lead of the game. "This was a tremendously hard fought game between two very good basketball teams," San Diego State coach Steve Fisher said. "Were disappointed that we didnt get the opportunity to cut the nets down. But were proud of what weve done and how weve done it. "We competed from wire to wire, and we just didnt quite have enough to finish. But if we continue to play that way, well have a chance to be playing after the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. Thats our goal now." San Diego State (29-4) got a team-high 15 points from Xavier Thames, the leagues regular-season player of the year. Thames also had three assists while once again committing just one turnover. For the tournament, Thames had 16 assists versus a mere three turnovers. Joining Bairstow, Williams, Polee, and Thames on the 2014 all-tournament team was New Mexicos Alex Kirk. Don Larsen Jersey . ST. Keelan Cole Jersey . LOUIS -- Stars forward Rich Peverley remained hospitalized Tuesday in Dallas, undergoing heart tests after collapsing on the bench during a game that was postponed. His teammates? They are trying to deal with what they saw. After an eerily quiet flight and sleepless nights all around, the Stars were back on the ice for a morning skate in St. Louis, relieved that Peverleys irregular heart condition had stabilized but clearly shaken by an event that puts their playoff push in perspective. Even if the NHL hadnt postponed the game Monday night in Dallas with the Blue Jackets leading 1-0 early in the first period, linemate Tyler Seguin was done for the night. Hed come off the ice just ahead of Peverley and was right there when Peverley lost consciousness during what the team called a "cardiac event." "I went in the room and took my stuff off right away," Seguin said, his voice catching a bit. "I was right beside him when it was all happening." Forward Vernon Fiddler was with Nashville when the Red Wings Jiri Fischer collapsed on the Detroit bench in 2005, also from a heart problem. "You dont expect that ever to happen," Fiddler said. "Ive been unfortunate to be part of both of those." Fiddler was among four Stars players made available after the morning skate, a veteran hoping to help the kids cope. "Its pretty emotional when you see your teammate collapse like that," Fiddler said. "We have some young guys on the team and its a lot more difficult for them because they havent been through things the older guys have been through. Youve got to help them through that." For one Stars teammate, Alex Chiasson, it was too much. The team said he had joined Peverley in a Dallas hospital for observation because he was so distraught. "Yeah, yeah, he wasnt doing good," coach Lindy Ruff said. "A lot of anxiety associated with what happened last night." The Blues also had emotions to sort out. Coach Ken Hitchcock was watching on TV and remembered "the silence was deafening." Hitchcock rewound his DVR and then froze the screen trying to detect who was in peril on the Stars bench, then waited nervously for an update. "Lindy saying hes OK, hes asking about Can he play? again, I think calmed everybody down," Hitchcock said. "But there was no way you could play the game. The look on the players faces on both sides, there was no way you could play the game." Blues forward Brenden Morrow has vivid memories of Buffalos Richard Zednik getting his throat slashed by the skate of a tumbling teammate in 2008. Morrow roomed with Zednik in juniors and the two were close friends. "Those are scary things," Morrow said. "I dont even know where to begin with what theyre thinking in that locker room." The 31-year-old Peverley, who averaged 16 minutes of ice time in all six games of the Stanley Cup last season with Boston, was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat in training camp and underwent a procedure that sidelined him through the first regular season game. He had played in 60 consecutive games before sitting out at Columbus last week due to effects of his heart condition, but Mondays game was his third straight since then. "Hes always taken the precautions, hes a very focused, organized guy, you can say," said Seguin, who won a Stanley Cup with Peverley in Boston. "Sometimes bad things happen to good people." A doctor who specializes in the study of athletes and heart conditions questioned whether Peverley should have been playing, while taking care not to criticize those handling his medical needs. "Its a symptomatic athlete," said Dr. Barry Maron of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. "Thats the key. A symptomatic athlete with known heart disease whos out there. That would not seem to be optimal." Ruff said there were no previous concerns about Peverley and praised team doctors for doing "a fabulous job monitoring the situation." Before the morning skate, Ruff emphasized the positive medical report. "Hes doing good, hes stable and hes in good spirits," he said. "A few guys whove interacted say hes got his sense of humour back already." General manager Jim Nill said Peverley was undergoing tests to find the "cause of the event and a long-term solution." The condition places Peverelys career in jeopardy and its likely he wont be back this season. Ruff, asked whether there was a prognosis for Peverleys return, replied: "No, no, nothing." This adds poignancy to Peverleys request, upon being revived, to get back out there. Every NHL season is filled with tales of players heading to the dressing room for repairs, getting stitched up, then rejoining the action seemingly no worse for wear. "Athletes in general, hockey players in general are kind of weird that way," Stars wing Ray Whitney said. "Youll play through injuries. Im not sure about playing through a heart injury. Thats a little bit aggressive in my opinion, but thats Rich." The Stars recalled forward Colton Sceviour and Chris Mueller from their Texas AHL affiliate and Ruff said both would be in the lineup against the Blues. "Were still in a big playoff race," centre Jamie Benn said. "I guess well be playing for Rich tonight." NEW ORLEANS -- James Harden capped a 26-point performance with a tiebreaking jumper with 28 seconds left, and the Houston Rockets held on for their third straight victory, 103-100 over the reeling New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night. Marcus Peters Rams Jersey . Eric Gordon scored a season-high 35 points, but the Pelicans lost their seventh straight. Terrence Jones scored 23 and Dwight Howard added 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Rockets, who trailed by as many as 17 in the second quarter and by eight with about four minutes to go. Harden had a hand in 12 of Houstons final 17 points, scoring 10 and assisting on Howards alley-oop dunk. Anthony Davis added 24 points for New Orleans, his sixth straight game with 20 or more, but Darius Miller missed a potential tying 3 in the final seconds. Jason Smith and Brian Roberts each added 10 points for New Orleans, but Smith missed a potential tying jumper from the top of the key with 12 seconds left. Chandler Parsons who had 17 points, then made one of two free throws for the final margin. The Rockets made things difficult for themselves by missing 16 of 41 free throws, and won despite leading for only 1:14 the entire game. The Pelicans led by 12 early in the third quarter after Davis jump shot, but Davis then committed three fouls in the span of 1:34, giving him four for the game and prompting coach Monty Williams to bring his star forward to the bench. Less than four minutes after Davis left the game, his former Kentucky teammate, Jones, tied the game at 68. But New Orleans managed to regain momentum, thanks to a pair of 3s by Gordon, and led 81-74 heading into the final period. With New Orleans missing three top players in Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans, the stage appeared set for an easy Houston victory. It appeared it could be another long night for the Pelicans when Howard took an alley-oop lob from Harden and slammed it home with two hands on the opening play of the game. Yet New Orleans wound up dominating the first quarter on both ends of the court, from Smiths crowd-pleasing block of Parsons driving dunk attempt to Davis windmill jam and his 14-foot jumper as he was fouled. Gordon had 14 points, including a pair of 3s, in the first quarter, and New Orleans led 30-19 when the period ended. Gordon scored 22 points before halftime, and New Orleans took its largest lead when Al-Farouq Aminu scored five straight points on a 3-pointer and two free throws to make it 44-27. The Rockets were back within 51-43 when Hardens no-look, behind-the-head pass set up Donatas Motiejunas easy layup. But Davis responded with a jump hook, Gordon added a free throw and New Orleans led 56-45 at halftime. Ndamukong Suh Jersey .com) - Robert Upshaw made a putback jumper to put 17th-ranked Washington ahead with 1:27 remaining in the game and the Huskies held on to beat Eastern Washington 81-77 on Sunday.DALLAS -- Calgarys Mike Cammalleri had a different ending in mind on another emotional night for the Dallas Stars. Cammalleri scored two goals, Corban Knight netted the winner in a shootout, and the Flames erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Stars 4-3 on Friday night. It was the first home game for Dallas since forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench Monday because of an irregular heartbeat. "Its kind of something that weve been doing pretty well as of late," Cammalleri said. "Whatever the score is coming into the third period and putting out all that we have and trying to keep going and stick with what were trying to do. Sometimes youre rewarded." The Stars blew a valuable point in their bid to hang on to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, and they werent happy about it. But the loss was secondary to another step toward getting back to the business of hockey. The first was a 3-2 overtime win at St. Louis, the top team in the NHL, a night after Peverleys collapse. The second was seeing their teammate for the first time at practice Thursday. And then came Friday, when he surprised them by showing up in the locker room before they returned to the bench four nights after he collapsed there early in a game against Columbus and had to be revived in a nearby tunnel. The game was postponed. "It brings a smile to your face to see him here at the arena and around the guys," forward Erik Cole said. "Hopefully, it was good for him to be around the guys. We enjoyed seeing him and just to hang out with him." The 31-year-old Peverley, who was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in training camp, is out for the season. He will soon undergo a procedure designed to correct the condition. Peverley got a standing ovation when he was shown on the video board, briefly waving from a suite but mostly clapping with a stoic look both times he was shown. A fan held a sign that said "Heart of a champion" with Peverleys No. 17 outlined in red by the shape of a heart. One of the linesmen, Pierre Racicot, clapped at centre ice while the crowd roared, and the Stars banged their sticks on the boards in front of the bench, a universal clapping sign in hockey. They were doing the saame thing Monday, but then it was a frantic attempt to get the attention of game officials after Peverley collapsed. Ndamukong Suh Rams Jersey. "It was awesome that the crowd gave him a great ovation," forward Jamie Benn said. "There were probably 20 smiling faces on the bench banging our sticks for him." With the Flames trailing 3-1 with 7 minutes left in regulation, Calgarys Paul Byron lifted a shot past goalie Tim Thomas from in front late in a power play. Cammalleri then got behind Thomas and stuffed in a loose puck for his second tying goal of the game with 4:30 remaining. "On both goals, we got on the wrong side of the man," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "We had some problems defensively. We spent more time in our zone than we needed to. We lost some battles." The Flames had most of the best chances in overtime, and Sean Monahan kept them alive in the shootout by slipping a shot between Thomas pads after Jordie Benn started the final round by scoring for the Stars. Calgarys Joey MacDonald, playing for the first time since Nov. 1 after getting sent to the minors, stopped Tyler Seguin to start the first extra round of the shootout. Knight easily beat Thomas with a wrist shot to prevent Dallas from winning a season-high fourth straight game. "Joey MacDonald has been very good for us since the start," coach Bob Hartley said. "He was sent down but he never said a word, kept working, and he played a big, big part in our win." Jamie Benn put Dallas ahead 2-1 with his career-high 27th goal of the season when he won a faceoff and headed for the front of the net. Seguin sent a pass through the crease to Trevor Daley, who found Benn alone with MacDonald out of position. A little more than 2 minutes later, Cole redirected a shot from Brenden Dillon past MacDonald for a 3-1 lead. "This time of year with these points being so valuable, you cant give up a 3-1 lead in the third," Jamie Benn said. "We were lucky to get one point." Marie-Michèle Gagnon fell and dislocated her shoulder during the slalom portion of the womens super combined Monday at the Sochi Olympics, after hooking her skis on a gate. Jae Crowder Jersey . As soon as she stood up, Gagnon knew she was injured. “Once I tried to get up I knew my shoulder was dislocated. Mark, our Canadian doctor, and the Russian doctor put it back in place. It was pain free – they did a great job," said Gagnon, who received treatment on site. "Ive had injuries before and come back and hopefully I can do it again. Its too bad about today but I am hoping to at least do the technical events (giant slalom and slalom)." Gagnon, of Lac-Etchemin, Que., made her Olympic debut in Vancouver, and has since become a regular top-ten contender on the World Cup circuit. The dislocation was minor, and Gagnon sustained no broken bones or muscle tears, though she stated on twitter that she bruised her thigh. Gagnon received treatment from Canadian team doctor Mark Borzecki, and had a follow up at the medical clinic in the athletes village. Gagnon was supposed to compete in the womens super-G, slated for Feb. 15. She is hoping to race in the giant slalom on Feb. 18, and the slalom on Feb. 21. "We will have to see how it goes but Im hoping to keep racing here in Sochi," said Gagnon. "I really want to show people that you can overcome obstacles and still do great things." Schaub was 8 of 11 for 92 yards and a touchdown and the Texans got a 24-17 win over the Dolphins. Schaub played most of the first quarter for Houston (2-0) and got off to a rough start, throwing an interception on his first series and being sacked on third down on the second. He and the offence got going on the next drive, and he found tight end Owen Daniels wide open in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown play to put Houston up 7-0. Case Keenum took over after that and was 11 of 18 for 150 yards with a 38-yard touchdown pass. T.J. Yates finished the game, and was seven of nine for 84 yards including a 33-yard touchdown throw to Garrett Graham in the third quarter. The solid performance by both players didnt bring any clarity in the battle to backup Schaub. Coach Gary Kubiak said he isnt closer to a decision and hell continue to evaluate the pair in the upcoming week. "TJs solid again, Case makes some really nice throws in there," Kubiak said. "The easy way for me to answer that is to say theyre both doing their jobs. Theyre making it really hard on me, and thats a good thing for our team." Ryan Tannehill looked sharp, completing 10 of 15 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown in just under a half of work for the Dolphins (1-2). "I dont think we played as clean as have to," coach Joe Philbin said. "Offensively, it took us a while to get going. We did some good things, but theres a lot of room for improvement." Tannehill wanted to use this game to develop chemistry with Wallace, who joined the Dolphins in the off-season after four years in Pittsburgh. He did that, connecting with Wallace three times for 58 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown pass that tied it at 7 in the first quarter. "It was great for us," Tannehill said. "I think our relationship continues to grow; we continue to be more on the same page the more reps we can practice. It was exciting to get a couple of balls to him and hopefully get his ball rolling." But the offence took a blow when new tight end Dustin Keller sustained what appeared to be a serious right knee injury. Kellers leg bent unnaturally when he was tackled on the rigght knee by D. Custom Utah Jazz Jerseys. J. Swearinger on an incomplete pass Saturday night. He immediately grabbed his right knee and was soon carted off the field. Philbin said he didnt have a diagnosis on Kellers injury, but Wallace was preparing for the worst. "It looked pretty bad, and Im pretty sure hes going to be out for a while," Wallace said, adding that he hadnt heard anything official on Kellers status. Houston first-round pick receiver DeAndre Hopkins was also injured; leaving in the second quarter with a concussion. Hopkins, the 27th overall pick this year out of Clemson, had two receptions for 22 yards before the injury. Kubiak said he wasnt sure how Hopkins was injured, but saw him looking disoriented on the field. "He didnt run the route, didnt get his depth, was just stumbling all over the place," Kubiak said. "So we got him out. Andre Johnson saw his first action of the preseason and had one reception for 20 yards. Texans star linebacker Brian Cushing returned on Saturday for the first time since a knee injury ended his season in Week 5 last season and played 10 snaps. He had a tackle and came close to a sacking Tannehill, lunging at him and grabbing his midsection before the quarterback wriggled away on Cushings final play. "Im proud of him," Kubiak said. "For him to go out there and get hit on and stuff like that was a big step." J.J. Watt, last years defensive player of the year, saw limited action after sitting out in Houstons first preseason game. Houston defensive end Antonio Smith had a good night, finishing with a sack and a tackle for a loss. Daniel Thomas took a short pass from Tannehill and turned it into a 27-yard gain that got Miami down to the 4-yard line in the second quarter. A 4-yard run by Lamar Miller two plays later tied it at 14-14. Houstons Randy Bullock, who missed all of last season with a groin injury, gave Houston a 17-14 lead just before halftime with a 46-yard field goal. Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of rookie right-handed pitcher Alex De La Cruz to a contract for the 2014 season. Custom Orlando Magic Jerseys . De La Cruz, 22, has played last two seasons in the Texas Rangers organization after being signed as a free agent. The product of Puerto Rico went 2-0 with a 0.46 ERA in 10 appearances out of the bullpen for Class A Short Season Spokane of the Northwest League last summer. He also had one save and a 5.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio, as he fanned 20 batters and walked just four in 19 2/3 innings. “Hes a young power arm,” Forney said. “His velocity is anywhere from 91-93 miles per hour and has occasionally been seen at up to 95 miles per hour. With that velocity and a good breaking ball, he has the ability to have some big time success in our league.” In his first season in professional baseball, De La Cruz was the closer for the Rangers Dominican League squad. He made 18 appearances out of the bullpen, going 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA and nine saves. He also had an astounding 14.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio. But it was more than enough to beat the White Sox. Scherzer threw six scoreless innings and the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1 to finish a two-game sweep. Scherzer (3-1) won his third straight start, allowing four hits while striking out seven to become the first pitcher in team history with at least seven strikeouts in each of his first six starts. He also became the first in the majors to do it since Tim Lincecum began the 2010 season with at least six strikeouts in his first seven starts. But it was the three walks and 105 pitches that gnawed at the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner. "They fought me all the way through the whole at-bat," Scherzer said. "I just thought I could have been a little more efficient so I could have pitched deeper into the game." Scherzer beat the White Sox for the second straight time, following up his April 24 win when he went six innings and allowed two runs in a 7-4 victory. He also helped Tigers win for the fourth time in five games, and shut down the powerful White Sox offence for the second straight day. "Yeah, we missed out on a couple of opportunities today and yesterday too, but those guys are pretty good pitchers and have been for a while," White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers said. "They do some good things in those situations and get the job done. We just have to find a way to battle through on some of those and get some runs across." On Tuesday, Justin Verlander and two relievers held the White Sox to seven hits in a 4-3 Detroit win. Scherzer and the Tigers continued that Wednesday against a team that started the day first in the American League in runs and second in home runs and slugging, coming within one out of a shutout. "Theres 29 other managers that would like to be able to do that," Detroits Brad Ausmus said of starting Verlander and Scherzer on consecutive days. Chicagos Robin Ventura is certainly one of those managers. As with Flowers, he heaped praise on Scherzer. "Hes great, hes always tough. You get some guys on, you get opportunities and thats when ggood pitchers really show their stuff. Mario Hezonja Jersey. He did that today," Ventura said. "We at least got him a high pitch count and he couldnt get eight or nine innings. But, hes just tough." The Tigers got all the runs they needed in a four-run fourth, when Detroit scored four times against Hector Noesi (0-2). Bryan Holaday capped the rally with a two-run double. Noesi, making a spot start for Chicago, went 3 2-3 innings, allowing four runs and five hits. He breezed through the first three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth in his first start of the season. "We dont know much about the guy, and I dont think he has been extended that far so it may have been a combination of the hitters getting a chance to see him a few times and also maybe because he hadnt been as deep into a game this year," Ausmus said. "He could have been getting a little tired as well." The White Sox challenged Scherzer as well, but left seven runners on against the Tigers righty. "Im very cognizant of what theyre able to do and always willing to give them credit," Scherzer said. "Today I thought they did a good job of battling me but when push came to shove I thought I was better." NOTES: The Tigers announced that left-hander Robbie Ray will make his major-league debut Tuesday in Detroit against the Astros. Ray, 22, was acquired this off-season from the Nationals as part of the trade that sent starter Doug Fister to Washington, and will start in place of injured starter Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez is on the disabled list with a laceration on his right middle finger and threw from flat ground prior to Wednesdays game. . C Alex Avila missed his second straight game with back spasms. . Robin Ventura said LHP Chris Sale is "feeling better" but a rehab start is a possibility if his recovery continues to be extended. Sale has been on the disabled list since April 22 -- retroactive to April 18 -- with a flexor muscle strain in his left arm. NEW YORK – The transition has been tough. Kenny Young Ravens Jersey . That much is clear. Martin St. Louis had 29 goals and 62 points in 61 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning this season. After being traded to the New York Rangers at the March deadline, he scored just once and added seven assists in 19 games. "People were looking for me to get results and those tough times make you appreciate the good times," said St. Louis on the eve of his first playoffs in the Big Apple. "Ive failed a bunch of times, but I know Ive been successful many times too so, you know, Ive worked hard to get my game going. I feel comfortable here." It took awhile. Moving from sunny Florida where hockey players are as anonymous as mailmen to The City that Never Sleeps where the bright lights can either immortalize or stun was never going to be simple.   "It is tough, I mean, Ive been somewhere for 13 seasons. In one place everyone knew me, I knew everybody, now you come to [a new] place, I think people know of me and I dont think they know me and that takes time," St. Louis explained. And the time is now. St. Louis had four assists in his last two games before the playoffs began. He had two assists in New Yorks Game 1 win on Thursday night. It seems like hes heating up at the perfect time. "This is playoff time and this is the time when you get judged and Im excited about that," he said. St. Louis did everything you can in Tampa. He won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHLs leading scorer twice, including in last years lockout-shortened campaign. He won the Hart Trophy as the league MVP (2003-04). He hoisted the Stanley Cup a decade ago. He has averaged more than a point per playoff game (70 in 64 career post-season contests). "At the end of the day, this is different," said St. Louis, who is well-known for his intense fitness regiment. "This is different. Its not because you had success that youre going to have success. Youve got to go earn it every day and Im going to try and do that starting with Game 1 of this series." Despite his track record in the game, St. Louis believes he still needs to prove himself to his new teammates. "Respects not just given, you earn that respect and I think I did that in Tampa and now Im trying to build that here and theres no better [time] to do that then going through a playoff experience." St. Louis has made a career of proving doubters wrong. At first, they said he was too small to make the NHL. He went undrafted and unsigned. Finally the Calgary Flames gave him a shot before ultimately buying out his contract after he was passed over in the 2000 expansion draft. Then there were the Olympic snubs in 2010 and 2014 that once again cast him in the underdog role. And now here we are again, with some speculating St. Louis made a major miscalculation leaving Tampa where he was playing well and working alongside Steven Stamkos on a team that appears to be on the rise. And despite that, St. Louis insists he hasnt let his mind wander to his legacy and how it may have been altered by what has happened in the last few months. "Right now, its so magnified, because of where we are, I dont think Ive had time to focus on big-picture stuff. I think Ive been focusing on getting in [the playoffs] and now that were in, doing good things. I think Ill focus on big-picture stuff maybe later in the summer. Im trying to stay in the moment. NEW YORK -- Before they can think about beating Miami in the playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets had to show they could do it in a game. By the time they ended 4 1/2 years of futility, the only losing streak belonged to Miami -- for the first time in 10 months. Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson scored 19 points each, and the Nets ended a 13-game skid against the Heat and sent the NBA champions to consecutive losses for the first time since January with a 101-100 victory Friday night. "It was good that we got a taste of this type of atmosphere this early in the season to try to see where were at," Pierce said. "Miami, whenever they come into town, theyre a measuring stick for everybody, so it was good for us to come out and get the win." Pierce and Johnson both hit two free throws in the final seconds as the Heat were trying to pull off a comeback. Instead, they fell to 1-2 and have dropped two in a row for the first time since Jan. 8 and 10. The Heat got Dwyane Wade back after he missed Wednesdays loss in Philadelphia, and he scored 21 points. LeBron James led Miami with 26 points as the Heat again fell far behind and couldnt catch up. "What youve done in the past doesnt mean you can make it happen in the present, so weve just got to have a little more sense of urgency," James said. "Its not doomsday right now. Were good, but we understand what we need to fix and correct." The Nets ended a 13-game skid against the Heat with their first victory since March 20, 2009, before Miamis Big Three got together and when the Nets were still playing in East Rutherford, N.J. -- two homes ago. Deron Williams, who came to the Nets two years later, said he wasnt aware of the skid until seeing it on TV earlier Friday. "You dont want to have those types of losing streaks to any franchise," he said, "so it was definitely on our mind." Brooklyn, bigger and deeper, opened an 11-point lead after three quarters and kept the lead right around there until the final 2 minutes. Then Miami ran off 10 straight, cutting it to 96-94 with 18 seconds left after consecutive 3-pointers by Wade and Mario Chalmers. James later nailed a 3-pointer from the corner to cutt it to 99-98 with 4. Hayden Hurst Ravens Jersey. 7 seconds remaining before Johnson hit two free throws. Chris Bosh was fouled and after making the first appeared to try and miss the second, but it went in and the Heat couldnt commit another foul in time. The Nets bounced back from a season-opening loss in Cleveland by winning in their second and final game without first-year coach Jason Kidd, suspended two games by the NBA after pleading guilty in a drunken driving case. James heated up late for his 21st straight 20-point game against the Nets. Only Michael Jordan had a longer streak, with 39 in a row from 1984-95. Miami had bounced back with a win after every loss since following a Jan. 8 defeat to Indiana with another loss two nights later in Portland. But the Nets seized control in the third quarter behind 11 points from Pierce, holding the Heat without a basket for nearly 6 minutes and building just enough of a lead. "This aint nothing new. Weve dealt with this before. This story line continues," Wade said. "At the end of the day, we want to play better. We would love to play better, obviously the start, the first and the third, but we had a chance to win the game. We have to find a way to pull it out." The Heat swept three games against the Nets last season by an average of 21 points, the series appearing more lopsided than ever. Getting Kevin Garnett and Pierce from Boston should change that, as well as whatever pleasantries might have existed between the teams. Garnett said James should worry about the Heat and stay out of Celtics business last month after James made some critical comments about their departure from Boston, and James refused to answer any questions about the Nets before the game Friday, saying Garnett told him not to talk about other teams. Brooklyn got eight points in 12 minutes from Andrei Kirilenko after he missed the opener with back spasms. Fellow newcomer Alan Anderson also had eight points, while Andray Blatche led the reserves with nine. NOTES: Miamis longest winning streak against an opponent is 12 in a row over Charlotte. ...
